Warning - Mail and Mailbox Tampering

  April 12, 2023

Sovereign Harbour Residents Association Issue Warning - see message below.

We have received reports of an intruder tampering with post and post boxes in the blocks of flats in the South Harbour, plus fraudulent bank cards arriving in the post that have not been ordered by the resident (luckily, found before the culprit could return to collect them). The person apparently follows the postman into the building to try to remove post. The worry is that the fraudsters are targeting any apartment blocks they can get into.

If you see a person tampering with post or post boxes and they are still in the area, call 999 and, where possible and safe to do so, snap a photo of them and identify the registration of any car they may be using.

If you suspect your mailbox has been tampered with or you receive bank cards you haven’t ordered call 101 or log on to the Sussex Police website to report it.

Damaged mailboxes should be reported to the block’s management agents. Whenever possible, pick up the post from your box as soon as you can.
